Can clients share court orders and documents?
We often get asked whether you are permitted to share your court order or section 7 report with us as quite rightly, Family Court proceedings are private and confidential.
It's important to note that you are not even allowed to show your court documents to your family unless they are named as one of the parties on the court case.
If you do share information or documents about the court proceedings then you may be found to be in contempt of court and this can carry serious penalties.
Dads Unlimited operates as Lay Advisers under
Practice Direction 14E, which states that a party may communicate to a Lay Adviser or a McKenzie Friend any information related to the proceedings to enable the party to obtain advice or assistance in relation to the proceedings.
